Improving pupil outcomes

In an increasingly data-driven educational landscape, schools face mounting pressure to enhance performance while efficiently utilising resources. With the rise of accountability measures and performance evaluations, schools require robust tools to navigate complex decisions and improve outcomes. This research aims to improve school efficiency using a data envelopment analysis approach - a powerful operational research tool (DEA) that assesses the efficiency of decision-making units (DMUs) such as schools. Outcomes will show how DEA can be applied to the Scottish education sector, specifically in identifying best practices, optimising resource allocation, and ultimately driving systemic improvements in school performance.
