Biography

Craig is a highly-experienced lecturer with an excellent track record in teaching preparation and delivery. He has been nominated on numerous occasions by staff and students for teaching-related awards, including awards for assessment and feedback, inclusive practice, enhancing the student experience, and staff member of the year. Craig is also an experienced researcher and has been involved in commercialising University research.

Craig graduated with a 1st class Honours degree in Accountancy and Computer Science from the University of Dundee in 1993. Craig then joined the University of Dundee as a Research Assistant, working on numerous European and UK-funded research projects. Craig received an MSc in Computing from the University of Dundee in 1998. He later went on to receive a PhD at the University of Dundee in 2012 with his work having resulted in the commercialisation of a software tool that he had created.

In 2009, Craig led the formation of a spin-out company from the University of Dundee acting as CTO then CEO for a period of time before the company retired in 2023. Meanwhile, Craig continued to work as a Lecturer within the University of Dundee, specialising in areas of software engineering.

Teaching

Craig has led and taught modules in both Undergraduate and Masters degrees in the following areas: introductory programming (Java, Python), data structures and algorithms, software engineering, advanced programming (C, C++), technology innovation, business intelligence systems, and client-focused modules such as the industrial team project. Craig has also led and coordinated the final year project modules in Undergraduate and Masters degrees.
