Dr Dilip Jena is a Lecturer of Energy Economics at Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP, Centre), Energy, Environment, and Society division, School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law. He joined CEPMLP in 2022. He worked as a Tutor for MSc and MBA full-time and distance learning students at CEPMLP and School of Business, University of Dundee between 2017-2022. He also provided re-skilling training at the City of Glasgow College to industry executives including in project management between 2021-22.
He has research interest in European and US electricity markets including economics of capacity, wholesale, and ancillary services. His PhD research studies the supply and demand-side resource adequacy in deregulated electricity markets and the impact of increased shares of renewable energy on electricity system costs for the transition to net-zero emission.
Between 2007-2017, he delivered consultancy projects for assessing the economics and financial viability of energy and extractive sector projects for transactions including through public private partnership at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC, India) before leaving as a manager. At PwC, he contributed to the drafting of thought leadership publications, including a) Technical Guide on Internal Audit of Mining and Extractive Industry for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, 2012 and b) Corporate income taxes, mining royalties and other mining taxes: A Summary of Rates and Rules in Selected Countries, 2012.
Dilip holds a PhD in Energy Economics from the University of Dundee (2022). In 2013, he received the Paul Stevens Prize, awarded to the best MSc student at CEPMLP by the Energy, Petroleum, Mineral and Natural Resources Law and Policy Education Trust. He is a graduate of Indian Institute of Technology (ISM), Dhanbad (2007).
