Personal profile

Biography

I am a passionate and values-driven educator, mental health nurse, and researcher who thrives on connection, authenticity, and impact. My work centres around helping students, practitioners, and systems embrace the complexity of human experiences in healthcare; particularly where ambiguity, emotion, and identity intersect.

I currently teach across pre-registration and post-registration programmes, using storytelling and immersive learning to spark curiosity and deepen empathy. I’m particularly interested in how we cultivate the conditions for well-being and thriving - not just for those in care, but for those giving it.

As the Lived Experience Lead in the School of Health Sciences, I work closely with community partners to ensure the voices of those with lived experience shape, challenge, and influence healthcare education. This includes co-producing learning experiences that are inclusive, humanising, and rooted in partnership. I also volunteer in my own time with communities affected by displacement and deprivation, including supporting people through Care4Calais.

My research spans identity, clinical decision-making, and therapeutic practice in mental health nursing. I’m currently studying for a professional doctorate, where I’m exploring identity formation in healthcare settings. My past research has looked at decision-making in high-stakes environments, such as decisions around patient leave, PRN use, and risk assessment. In these practises ambiguity and uncertainty are part of everyday practice.
