Gillian’s PhD research is concerned with the utility of CHAT (Cultural-Historical Activity Theory) based development models, such as the Expansive Learning Cycle and the Change Laboratory, to support development for Educational Psychology. She has used a range of methods including Autoethnography and 2nd and 3rd generation CHAT analysis. She has explored the history of Educational Psychology in the UK, current learning needs of Educational Psychology training and the potential of Educational Neuroscience to inform future practice.
