Personal profile

Biography

I have come to doctoral studies following 25 years of working in child protection in international contexts, developing and managing research and advocacy projects and programmes for international and local non-governmental organisations. During this time my work has focused on child workers in a range of contexts, and particularly the situation of child domestic workers.

Research

Current research:

My doctoral research aims to understand the lived experience of child domestic workers in Tanzania and their intra-generational relations and emotions within the served households. The research uses a qualitative and participatory multi-methods approach to examine the ways these emotional relationships are shaped by power, gender, age and ethnicity within the contexts of poverty, socio-cultural norms and children’s rights.
