Personal profile

Biography

Katie Hart Potapoff (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist and writer based at DJCAD, University of Dundee, completing her practice-led PhD, titled ‘With an Attentiveness Towards Intimacy and Texture: Exploring a Sense of Land and Place Through Creative Practices’. Katie takes a non-hierarchical approach through an interdisciplinary practice, intuitively working across processes and mediums such as drawing, installation, creative writing, fibre art, printmaking, metal casting, and clay sculpting. At the centre of her practice is a desire to make art which invites humans to reconsider the relationships with their more-than-human kin.

Katie was awarded an Explore and Create grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to fund her place-based residency on the Isle of Iona and she is currently the AHRI Research Fellow for the Centre for Scotland’s Land Futures.

Katie received her MFA with Merit from DJCAD, University of Dundee (2019), and her BFA from University of British Columbia Okanagan (2008). She has also completed post-graduate studies in Educational Research at the University of Calgary on Advancing Socially Just Schools and Communities (2018) and Design Thinking (2017).
