Teaching
Dr McConville is an academic general practitioner, currently also practising clinically within NHS Tayside. Graduating at the University of Dundee (MBChB, 1998). He also holds DRCOG, DFSRH, a Masters in Medical Education and is a Senior Fellow with Advance HE.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of GPs (FRCGP) and completed his Educational Doctorate on a thesis entitled: Becoming a GP Trainer – Exploring the Barriers and Enablers.
He has worked as a previous GP specialist in substance misuse and for SIGN (Obesity) guidelines development.
His research interests are in mental health, performance management and medical education.
Current roles within the Medical School include: Associate Dean for Education & Student Experience and Head of the GP undergraduate education team.
