Personal profile

Lysbeth Antonides holds a BSc in Organic Chemistry from the Hogeschool Utrecht, University of Applied Sciences. She also holds a certificate of the Analytical Science Talent Program (ASTP) that she did concurrently with her bachelor. The ASTP is a Dutch initiative, instigated by industrial leaders, to promote chemistry students to broaden their knowledge and experience.
Late 2017, she joined the Leverhulme Research Centre in Forensic Science to undertake a PhD in Forensic Chemistry. Her research project looks into Synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists (SCRAs), which are a diverse range of substances, collectively referred to as ‘spice’, and are controlled substances in the UK. The aim of the project is to obtain more knowledge of the chemistry of SCRAs and their behaviour in the human body in the context in which they are abused.
