After graduating from Norland College in 2014 with a first class BA (hons) degree in Early Childhood Studies, I worked as a nanny for a variety of families in a range of settings within the Uk and across Europe. During this time my interest in the development of children’s behaviours grew and I returned to academia in 2016 to commence an MSc in Psychology (conversion) at Stirling University. Since 2018 I have been a PhD student at Dundee University focusing my research on children’s cooperative willingness. Although I am a full time student, I am also a nanny to three children and I enjoy the balance of practical experience as well as academic research.

My current research supervised by Dr Josephine Ross involves exploring the relationship between peer popularity, theory of mind and prosocial behaviour in children from preschool through to middle childhood. I am interested in children’s willingness to behave prosocially towards others and the contributing factors involved in this. Does prosocial behaviour improve social status within peer groups? Does advanced theory of mind enable a greater willingness to cooperate? How does peer acceptance affect the continuing development of theory of mind?
