Biography
Marie is a senior lecturer in the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law. She teaches on the Professional Doctorate and the MEd programmes. She is the module leader for the Leadership and Organisational Development, Leadership in Professional Practice, Leadership and Management Strategies, and MEd Dissertation; she also supervises Professional Doctorate and PhD students. Marie has spent many years working in various roles within primary and secondary education before moving to further and higher education, including teaching secondary science and education studies. Marie's experiences in different sectors and working across the UK have provided her with a broad base on which to build her professional knowledge.
Marie’s interest in leadership led her to complete an MEd in Leadership and Management and a PhD focusing on school leadership and creativity through the lens of Complexity Leadership Theory. Although these research interests remain, she is also merging her passion and degree studies in the natural sciences by exploring leadership and environmental sustainability. Marie also enjoys returning to the natural sciences through her nature-based photography and spending time outdoors.
Marie has set up and continues to chair the Sustainable Environments: Practice and Leadership (SEPAL) research community at the University. Additionally, she is co-editor of the new University of Dundee’s Botanic Garden Living Lab Journal. External to the University, she co-convenes the BELMAS Leadership for Sustainability Research Interest Group.
