Biography

Mary Knight has been a member of staff in the University of Dundee for eleven years and is currently the Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching in the School.

She has held a number of roles in the School of Education and Social Work, including Head of Undergraduate Studies, Programme Director for PGDE primary and secondary programme, She is also the Convener for the MA (Hons) Education, Athens, where she is responsible for managing, developing and monitoring the programme, as well as teaching and assessment of students studying in Athens.

Mary has led strategic developments within the School including developing Interdisciplinary Learning modules within the School and promoting IDL across and beyond the School. She is committed to developing Student Voice and works closely with the School President and Vice Presidents to ensure that the student voice is an integral part of developments within the School. Mary has a lead role in developing alternative routes into teaching, guiding developments of part-time national primary education programmes in partnership with Local Authorities in Scotland. She has been involved in working collaboratively to secure funding to create and develop programmes within the School.

Mary has a keen interest in student development especially in the area of behaviour management and building positive relationships, and has presented at national and international conferences. She is also interested in inclusion and inclusive practice and is a member of the Scottish Universities Inclusion Group.

Mary has won an award for Learning and Teaching and has recently been nominated in the Student Led Teaching awards.
