Biography

Matthias Klaes is Honorary Professor of Commerce, collaborating with colleagues in the School of Business and CECHR. He holds the Nigel Vinson Chair of Political Economy at the University of Buckingham and is Director of Buckingham's Vinson Centre for Economics & Entrepreneurship. A Senior Research Adviser to the European Crowdfunding Network and member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Institute of Economic Affairs, he is an internationally recognised expert on economic governance, alternative finance, and methodology. He publishes widely in those areas and has been the academic lead on several large-scale projects for the European Commission. He was a Leverhulme International Fellow pursuing research in the digital humanities at Duke University, and is Honorary President of the Scottish Economic Society. He has held a number of senior administrative roles including inaugural Head of Keele Management School, Director of the Research Centre for Economics and Management at Keele, and Dean of the School of Business at Dundee, and is author of a leading textbook in Behavioral Economics (with Nick Wilkinson), currently in its 3rd edition.
