Teaching
Dr Michael Bartle, is the MSc Convener for the Community Education, having also held responsibilities including Discipline Lead in Education in the School of Education and Social Work, and Programme Director for the Teaching Qualification for Further Education (TQFE). He also teaches across initial teacher education, M.Ed. in Leadership in Education and MSc/BA in Community Education as well as doctoral supervision.
A major aspect of Mike’s work has been working with emerging professionals spread across Higher, Further and Community Education. This includes supporting initial teacher training, online learning and peace and reconciliation studies. Previous roles include, Associate Assessor for Education Scotland, Consultant to Northern Irish Outdoor Learning developments. Previous academic and management roles included Senior Lecturer in Outdoor Education at DeMonfort University, Course Leader and Guidance Manager at Dundee and Angus College and Assistant Director in Community Peace and Reconciliation Centre, Northern Ireland.
He is currently a reviewer for two peer-reviewed journals (Scottish Educational Review and Journal of Social Work Education). Current interests include, Sport for Change, trust building in educational settings and developing further education researchers. Dr Bartle's projects are available through ERASMUS+ and a range of published research. Dr Bartle is published in peer review journals and books.
