Research
Involved in EU multi-centre collaborations, NIH projects and the World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Craniofacial anomalies (CFA) means a significant international research remit. This involves setting up CFA research projects on treatment, quality of care aetiology and prevention of cleft lip and palate, in parts of the world where need is identified, particularly in developing countries. Also interested in 3D imaging and biomolecular research and their role in CFA research. Through the WHO has recently become involved in the Global Burden of Disease (Birth Defects) initiative with a particular interest in the problems with clefts and craniofacial anomalies in India and sub-Saharan Africa.
