Personal profile

I am a Lecturer in Strategy at the University of Dundee School of Business. I recently joined UDSB, after having taught at the London School of Economics (LSE) for three years while completing my PhD in Strategy at Cass Business School, City, University of London and Postgraduate Certificate in Education at LSE. I am a Fellow in Higher Education Academy.

Before coming to the U.K., I had completed my multidisciplinary PhD training at the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) in the U.S. where I was also an Instructor (Lecturer) in Strategy at Mizzou. I taught at Zhejiang University, China, before accepting the full scholarship from Mizzou. I also hold a Research Master’s degree in Management from the University of Melbourne, Australia, specializing in organizational culture.

My research interest is in strategy work in entrepreneurial firms. I focus on the challenges that ventures are often facing at the starting-up and scaling-up phase, such as identity formation, strategy making, and resource acquisition, through a practice-based strategizing lens. Recently, I have been studying early-stage FinTech firms, corporate accelerator programs, and angel investor networks ethnographically, and exploring emerging strategy, entrepreneurial script, and discursive practices in these contexts.

I have been a member of Academy of Management since 2013 and reviewing for AOM since. I won Ronald B. Shuman Best Student Paper Award in 2015 and 2016 and was awarded ABCD Award for Best Reviewer in 2018 and 2019. I help coordinate the doctoral and early-career events at in Strategizing Activities and Practices at Academy of Management.
