Personal profile


Qudsia Kalsoom has been teaching in higher education for more than 15 years. Before that she worked as a science teacher in Beaconhouse School System, Pakistan. Over the years, she has undertaken a range of responsibilities such as: teaching, supervising students’ research, developing new courses, conducting programme review, doing formative and summative assessment and examining graduate and PhD dissertation. She also has experience of serving on the editorial board of scholarly journals. 


Qudsia is currently part of a research project entitled 'Student Teachers’ Understanding and Engagement in Education for Sustainable Development in England, Turkey and Pakistan'. This research project received funding from Univesrity College London through 'UCL Global Engagement Fund'. The team of researchers include Professor Douglas Bourn (principal investigator), UCL; Dr. Qudsia Kalsoom, University of Dundee; Dr. Burtay Ince, Gazi University, Turkey; and Dr. Nese Soysal, independent researcher. 

Research interests

Qudsia's research interests mainly focus on teacher education for sustainable development (ESD), environmental education, social justice education, leadership for sustainability education and gender issues. She is particularly interested in investigating pedagogies for ESD and social justice education.
