Personal profile

Biography

Ryan is an experienced graphic designer that runs his own Glasgow-based professional practice, Rydo, an independent design consultancy with expertise in branding, visual identity and everything in between.

The practice deals with all aspects of visual communication across traditional and digital media, adopting a candid, open and collaborative approach that affords equal appreciation to the pragmatic (the method) and the intuitive (the magic).

Originally established in 2009, the studio’s output is driven by an enthusiasm for attractive, conceptually rigorous design that communicates clearly. Creative problem solving lies firmly at the heart of an ethos built on an ambition to provide considered, lasting outcomes.

Ryan believes that meaningful design can be a catalyst for progress and actively contributes to the broader industry and education. He is a former organiser of the lecture series LongLunch, a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) — serving as an assessor for its European & North American student assessment schemes — and a lecturer at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design.
