Biography

Salisu holds an academic background in nursing with specialisation in infection prevention and control. He is committed to advancing research-informed approaches for the prevention and control of infections, with focus on optimising healthcare quality and patient safety. His interests includes scale development, computer-adapted testing (CAT) in healthcare. His doctoral research focused on psychometric evaluation of instrument for measurement of CAUTI prevention knowledge.   

Teaching

Salisu delivers teaching across a range of modules, including clinical skills, global health and citizenship, developing healthcare practice, microbiology and its application to practice and infection prevention and control at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He also supervises postgraduate projects and welcomes postgraduate research applications that aligns with his research focus.

Research

Salisu maintains research interest in epidemiological studies related to infections, particularly as they inform infection prevention strategies and healthcare systems strengthening. He has strong methodological interest in scale development, with specific emphasis on knowledge measurement. His current work also explores evidence-informed strategies to enhance healthcare outcomes for individuals with indwelling medical devices and implementation science research.
