Biography

Stephen Knox joined the University of Dundee in September 2020. Having previously worked at the Scottish Government, he completed his PhD in 2018 at the University of Strathclyde before working as a research associate. His work primarily focuses on enterprise and innovation policy. In particular the effectiveness of formation practices and processes, the implementation and experiences of those using policies and how they are evaluated. His research interests also include exploring how ventures develop using identity as a theoretical lens.

Stephen has published in International Small Business Journal, Journal of Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship and Regional Development. He is involved in numerous research projects and published policy reports for public and third sector stakeholders, including the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council and The Lens Initiative.

Part of his role at the University of Dundee is to lead engagement with the Michelin Scotland Innovation Park.
