Biography

Dr. Sudharshan Reddy Paramati is a Lecturer in Finance and Economics at the School of Business in the University of Dundee. He was an Associate Professor in Finance and Financial Economics at the Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Nanchang, China. He worked as a Sessional Lecturer and Tutor at the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics in the Griffith University, Australia. He was also a Senior Research Analyst at the National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM), Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, and Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), India.

He received his PhD in Finance and Financial Economics from the Griffith University, Australia. He also holds M.Phil. in Financial Economics and M.A. in Applied Economics from the University of Hyderabad, and Pondicherry University, India, respectively.

He has done extensive research in the areas of international finance, energy and environmental issues, sustainable tourism management and socio-economic issues. He has published nearly 40 journal articles in international peer reviewed journals. More specifically, his research work appeared in top tier international journals such as Energy Economics, Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Emerging Markets Review, Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, Applied Economics, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, Applied Economics Letters, Australian Economic Papers, Applied Energy, Renewable Energy, Energy, etc. He also has several papers currently under review in top tier international journals. He has also presented his research work in several international conferences and won two best presentation awards.

Recently (July, 2019), one of his co-authored paper (The effect of renewable energy consumption on economic growth: Evidence from top 38 countries) received the Highest Citation award from ‘Applied Energy’ journal. He was also awarded with ‘Prof M.J. Manohar Rao Young Economist Award for the 2016 by the Indian Econometric Society, India’ and received ‘Outstanding Contribution Award, for the year 2016 from the Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, China. 

He has a significant experience in teaching both Bachelor and Master level courses across Finance and Economic subjects at the Griffith University, Australia and Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, China. He is also actively involved in supervising both Master and PhD level students, and has a considerable experience in administration work" 

He is currently teaching BU51011 – International Banking System for the MSc students and last semester, he taught BU42020 – Macroeconomic Policy in Practice, and BU22005 – Macroeconomics and Applied Policy. His current research focuses on financial markets integration and determinants, real estate finance, energy and carbon finance, sustainable tourism management and development, financial aspects of socio-economic issues.
