An Appropriate Model of Conservation Agreements for Biodiversity Conservation and the Prevention of Agricultural Land Degradation in Thailand
This research will examine whether and to what extent a legal model of a conservation agreement (CA) could be developed for conserving biodiversity and preventing agricultural land degradation in Thailand. Despite the fact that the country has enacted several lawsfor tackling land degradation and biodiversity conservation, these problems remain unsolved. This research, therefore, proposes to develop an alternative legal model by introducing CAs to work with current command-and-control legislation. This research will usea comparative study to examine the application of CAs as a legal tool in the UK, USA and Australia. Key features, weaknesses and strengths of this tool will be examined. The conclusion drawn from the comparative analysis will be used to develop a possible legal model for CAs for Thailand.
