Teaching

Susan Whyte is a lecturer in Initial Teacher Education and Convenor for PGDE professional practice (continuing students).  Susan joined the Univeristy in 2022 and currently teaches on the MA (Educ), PGDE (P) and BACP (Childhood Practice) programmes.  Before joining the team at the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law, Susan was a primary teacher with over 25 years in the classroom teaching all stages from primary 7 to nursery.  

Susan also worked as School Development Officer at V&A Dundee for 3 years.  Here she was able to teach beyond primary level working with secondary pupils, adults and higher education students.  Working in a design museum inspired Susan's interest in creative culture.   Susan built on this experience by completing her Masters of Education (Leading Learning and Teaching) at University of Dundee in 2020 where her thesis explored Design Thinking in Education.

Susan's current research focus is around Early Years Education, particularly the role of the adult to support children's voice.
