Personal profile

I am Interdisciplinary Professor of Digital Living at the University of Dundee. I hold a PhD in Computer Science and an MSc in Multimedia and Interactive Systems (Distinction). I am a member of the EPSRC Peer Review College, and a Visiting Scholar at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia.

I lead the interdisciplinary Living Digital Group ( The Group carries out empirical investigations of human behaviour in digital contexts. We use qualitative and quantitative methods to develop insights and to design technologies, placing a strong emphasis on applied, impactful research. Increasingly, our research focusses on online identity, reputation, trust and cybersecurity, and traverses disciplinary boundaries - drawing on Human Computer Interaction, psychology, sociology, digital anthropology and design.

We collaborate with researchers from a variety of disciplines, and our project partners include Microsoft, Royal Bank of Scotland, Bristows and the Government Office for Science.
