N2 - Apertures reflect my instinctive response to and curiosity about the mill’s distinctive perimeter windows. Conceived as a form of theatrical prop liberated from the original purpose of illuminating the space, the grid and frame is a conversation between the existing static window and its new non-identical twin which through its pivoting grid, references the movement of the sun revealed as cast shadows in motion. Left intentionally bare to reflect the existing raw materiality of the mill, the beech forms are a continuation of a sculptural process that relates to my ongoing fascination with the architectural elements of spaces.
With thanks to Malcolm Cheyne, Lyle McCance, Grant Sutherland, & Jonny Fenwick.
