Abstract
There are enormous opportunities for the Assets community in many of the significant changes which have occurred in the social, legal, demographic and economic landscape over the past ten to fifteen years. These changes will have a significant impact on the design and development of systems for older and disabled people. This keynote will bring together a number of proposals to improve both specialist and mainstream design methods in the field, and encourage a debate about the concepts of Universal Design and the future of design for older and disabled people.
