    Abstract

Big data has become the buzz word in recent years. It is topic of interest to a multitude of players, be it government or industry, academics or the public at large. This paper offers a bibliometric perspective on the related social science literature. We analyse the emergent literature in the field, offering a general overview of developments and then an analysis on areas of particular interest. Our analysis points to signs of emergent differentiation.
