Abstract
The effects of binarization of the input and the reference data in a correlator with the amplitude-compensated matched filter have been investigated. Computer simulations show that with binarization the noise tolerance of the correlator shows a significant improvement without compromising the other performance merits of the spatial filter. This is critical in the application of the amplitude-compensated matched filter, since the energy absorption of this type of filter severely reduces the input noise tolerance.
