N2 - "This year's BOOKMARKS focused on artists' books and zines in educational settings and launched with a series of talks that explored the role and impact of artists' books in teaching from a wide range of perspectives.Speakers included:Dr. Helen Douglas, artist and lecturer in Book Arts at Camberwell College of ArtsAndrew Martin, curator of literature and the arts, Scottish National Library of Scotland David Faithfull, artist, lecturer at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and curator at abcD (artists' book collection, Dundee)Ciara McDermott, an ECA graduate who works with Moray House, The National Library of Scotland and is currently involved in binding sessions in conjunction with the Martino Gamper's British Art Show installation.The talks gave a rich and varied snapshot of the opportunities and richness of activity within this field across Scottish art colleges and beyond. The artists' book and zine fair that followed was a real success. It attracted 55 stallholders. The majority were current ECA students from across the Schools of Art and Design but there were also a substantial number of students from other institutions - Glasgow School of Art, Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art and Design, Gray's School of Art, Napier University, OLL and Leith School of Art.
