Cancer: no longer a death sentence

Abstract

There are more people living with cancer owing to improvements in screening, early diagnosis and treatment programmes compared to a couple of decades ago. However, those diagnosed with lung or pancreatic cancer still have poor prognosis and the UK cancer survival is relatively poor compared to some countries (Coleman et al, 2003)
