Abstract
OVSF (orthogonal variable spreading factor) codes in wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) systems have been used to provide variable data rates with different bandwidth requirements. The OVSF code placement has strong impact on the utilization and blocking probability of the codes. A code match strategy is proposed, which is carried out simply because of the code not being replaced in the operation. The simulation results show that the code blocking probability and access delay are improved by the proposed strategy.
