This study deals with the impact of Emotional Intelligence (EI) on leadership style and index of leadership effectiveness in an Indian context. The sample consists of 340 software professionals of a microelectronic component manufacturing MNC firm working for its research and development centre in India. The results of the study suggest a significant and positive relationship between EI, leadership styles and index of leadership effectiveness. The results also indicate EI to significantly predict leadership effectiveness for this group of employees. These findings are discussed in the light of currently available research literatures and both practical as well as theoretical implications of the study are highlighted.
