Abstract

This chapter contains the conclusion of this edited collection, which critically examines the regulatory landscape of UAS across Europe, including the UK. It highlights the divergent approaches to UAS regulation despite overarching EU frameworks such as Regulation (EU) 2018/1139. The chapters reveal a patchwork of national regulations that extend beyond the EU's foundational rules, addressing gaps particularly in the areas not directly covered by existing EU regulations. This analysis underscores the infancy of a harmonised legal framework for UAS within Europe, especially in liability issues, indicating a significant need for further development to align with the rapid technological advancements in UAS capabilities and applications.
