N2 - The CRediT Taxonomy Register is a user-friendly template designed to help research leaders and teams record and acknowledge individual contributions to research projects using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT). Developed to support transparent authorship practices and inclusive research culture, this tool enables tracking of research contributions across the 14 defined CRediT roles, from conceptualisation and data curation to project administration and software development. Ideal for use in UK Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and beyond, the register improves authorship clarity, supports funding and reporting requirements, and helps meet commitments like the Researcher Development Concordat and the Technician Commitment. Includes dropdown menus, role definitions, and space for notes to document examples of contributions. This open, adaptable tool supports best practice in research recognition and is aligned with Open Research principles.Available in these formats:Excel - download the macro-enabled Excel file (xlsm) and select "enable content" to select more than one role from the drop-down menu.Word - a simpler version with a table for completing by research colleagues.
