Abstract
Bodor organised this three-week curatorial residency in collaboration with Nichola Hood, Curator at SPACEX, Exeter and in partnership with the South West Curatorial Network and the Center for Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv. They invited a curator in residence, Sergio Edelstein, to conduct together - and involving MA students from the Curating course - research into the critical mapping of the art world focusing on curatorial enterprises perceived in public as "representative" of foreign cultures. They surveyed specifically Biennales and survey shows of the early 2000s. The result of three weeks of intensive research was disseminated in a symposium titled 'Curating the Other, The Curator as Tourist' at Dartington College of Arts curated by Bodor with further keynote speakers including Yakouba Konate (Curator, Dakar Biennale), and Paul Domela (Chief Executive of the Liverpool Biennal).
