Abstract
Professor Mary Modeen spoke with Professor Christine Baeumler, Head of the Art department, and Professor Jennifer Gunn, Director of IAS, and they quickly arrived at a series of three PhD/MFA symposia called "Ethics, Art, Advocacy and Decolonizing Place Based Research."
A group of 10 graduate researchers, a combination of PhDs/MFAs, with creative, material, cultural and performative practices from both Duncan of Jordanstone Collage of Art and Design, University of Dundee and University of Minnesota, formed a cohort of participants in these symposia, with Professor Baeumler and Professor Modeen as co-hosts.
In addition to the web-based platform hosted by IAS, a renewed research network, and the numerous informal connections made among participants, this book provides a space to further engage with the themes and conversations begun at the initial symposia.
