Design for Business: curating design-led innovation

    Abstract

his proposal will provide an insight into the development of a design-led business program for V&A Museum of Design Dundee an international centre of design for Scotland - the first ever design museum to be built in the UK outside London. The museum is at the heart of Dundee’s waterfront regeneration, a £1 billion, 30-year masterplan to design an open, inclusive city of the future. The program titled ‘Design for Business’ is a Research and Business partnership between Scottish Enterprise (Government Agency) and the University of Dundee to support the application of design-led innovation in industry. The program has been tailored to serve a broad business audience across multiple sectors. However, Manzini (2016) argues that networks and coalitions do not emerge by chance; they are themselves the result of design: an activity proper to the discipline of strategic design that seeks to identify a suitable group of partners and built with them a set of shared values and converging interests. This presentation will draw upon our active business network to share a series of Design Stories to demonstrate the industry impact of this collaboration.
