Abstract
Exhibition dates: 2nd October 2025 - 8th February 2026
Venue: V&A Design Museum, Dundee, UK
Design HOPES: From HOPE to HEALTH is a major public exhibition presenting design research outcomes from the Design HOPES programme. The exhibition brings together work from multiple partner institutions and features University of Dundee–led projects including The Green Ward Toolkit, Flow, and Circulate: Reimagining a Climate-Resilient NHS Scotland, demonstrating how design can support a more sustainable and climate-resilient NHS Scotland.
Design HOPES is working with NHS Scotland as part of the AHRC and Future Observatory Green Transition Ecosystems programme. Using design-led research and collaborative working, they are identifying barriers and opportunities around meaningful change. Exploring the idea that the climate emergency is a health emergency, Design HOPES are creating, prototyping and testing the tools, behaviours and systems needed to meet, and move beyond, urgent Net Zero goals. Design HOPES returns to V&A Dundee with a new exhibition showcasing the transformational research developed throughout the project, a design-led, collaborative research initiative, working across five Scottish Universities, NHS Scotland, the third sector and organisations based in the design economy. The climate emergency is a health emergency. Design HOPES is responding to this challenge by creating, prototyping and testing the products, services and systems needed to meet, and move beyond, urgent Net Zero goals for NHS Scotland. This exhibition presents an insight on the people and processes behind this work, and asks, ‘How can design help us live healthier lives, for people and planet?
