N2 - The DJCAD RESEARCH EXPO is an annual exhibition of outcomes [including published works and work-in-progress] of research projects by staff and PhD researchers from across the School of Art & Design.The DJCAD Research EXPO 2023 encompassed a wide range of research themes, such as the public and private sphere, gaps in archives, time and ephemerality, textuality and visuality, gender identity, arts and wellbeing, home and belonging, cultural and national mythologies, ancient rituals, circular economy, sustainability, and activism to name a few.The main exhibition took place in the South and North Galleries in the Matthew Building [L5] The range of exhibits, some made especially for the EXPO and the gallery space, included sculpture, drawing, painting, installation, performance, video, audio work, online commissions, artists books, design objects, documentaries, research posters and academic publications.The accompanying event programme included a Preview with Open Studio and a performance, and a two-part research day under the title ‘DJCAD Research Presents’ on 27th January, [DJCAD] and 7th February [V&A Dundee] which included work-in-progress performances, individual presentations, group discussions, and demonstrations. In addition, we organised a lunchtime tour for CAP students where they heard about the works from the curator and six PhD researchers.In total approx. 70 DJCAD staff and PhD researchers contributed to the EXPO + their collaborators.
