N2 - Blazers/Blasons: DoggerlandIn 2023, Blazer/Blasons started developing a collection of embroidered coats-of-arms, all depicting dogs, called “Doggerland”. All of the coat-of-arms are made using machine embroidery, have dimensions of approximately 7 x 8 cm, and can contain up to twelve colours maximum. This collection is part of a bigger project named “Blazers/Blasons”, which itself began in2016. Since then, more than a hundred artists have been invited to realise their own coat-of-arm designs within diverse collections http://www.blazers-blasons.com/The production of a printed edition of the Doggerland collection is in process, in line withprevious collections: http://www.blazers-blasons.com/editions Doggerland has been envisioned as an open collection. New encounters and artistic productions will fuel its growth and development. Many artists share pictures of their dear dog-friends and companions. Moreover, there are many references regarding the place of dogs in different domains: mediaeval bestiary, or the figure of dogs in art and as aesthetical, sociological and anthropological subjects… Therationale behind this collection aims to remain simple and to cover this theme by giving a privileged place to Dogs, to all dogs, and to the Love of dogs. The artist Christine Demias wrote on one of her pieces: “Le concept de chien m’a mordu”. This literally translates to “The dog concept bit me”, a french figure of speech which figuratively means that she fell for, or went crazy for dogs. Thirty copies of each coats-of-arms: are embroidered and 15 sent to the original artists, and the remaining fifteen are produced to be used for the project Blazers/Blasons,three of which are donated to an animal protection and welfare association, AVA (https://www.agirpourlavieanimale.fr/)."The work for Doggerland has been shown in a number of exhibitors and there are plans for further shows.Exhibitions in 2024:2024Paysages Blasons, Lendroit Éditions, Rennes (F) 28 June - 14 September2024En Cœur, Tchikebe, Marseille (F) 11-26 July2024Furry Friend You Are Welcome, Syndicat des Récollets, Paris (F) 7-22 June2024Beautés Canines, HATCH galerie du livre, Le Havre (F) 6 June – 21 JulyNB: The Tchikebe exhibition also featured a commissioned silkscreened print edition of one of my drawings in an edition of 100 printed in Marseille by the Tchikebe publishing house and Olivier Ludwig-Legardez.
