Drawing Water: Drawing as a Mechanism for Exploration

    Research output: Book/ReportBook

    Abstract

Drawing Water is a collection of drawings and writings brought together by artist Tania Kovats. Believing that drawing is a mechanism for exploration as much as a tool for representation, Kovats presents drawings by map-makers, writers, shipbuilders, whalers, soldiers, sailors, artists, archaeologists, cartographers, scientists, uranographers, engineers and dreamers - a diverse selection united by the sense that in making the drawing they are looking for something.

Drawing – both her own and other people’s – is a key part of Tania Kovats’s practice, and she has long been interested in what drawing can do. In this book she brings together an eclectic selection of drawings of the sea, both her own and other people’s.
