Abstract

Head has been developing a drone animation simulation software that will be used to design and programme UAV drones, upto several hundred at once. These drones will be shone at large events, in international city venues. The field of Drone Animation is still new (circa 5 years old), and advances in technology mean it’s possible to animate hundreds of drones. This has been a manual animation process to an extent, whereas Head’s software uses algorithmic methods to programme the drone movements and formations. This has the potential to increase the complexity of animations as well as speed up the production time. Head is collaborating with the company Celestial Labs. And we are seeking opportunities to create a drone animation performance (drone show).

The techniques and methods are currently in development by Head, whilst funding is being sort to support the project. It has a potential audience of thousands.

We are intending to do our first major performance this year (2020), subject to successful commission funding.
