Early Warning Signs: Exhibition, Gallery Of Modern Art (GoMA), Glasgow

Abstract

The Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) is delighted to be hosting Early Warning Signs by Ellie Harrison during 2014. Early Warning Signs is a lifelong project for the artist and work on display at GoMA is one of four signs currently shown across the UK with a mission ‘promote’ climate change (they try hard to grab the attention of passers-by).

GoMA applied to adopt a sign for 2014 to begin conversations with our staff and visitors to think about climate change as Glasgow moves towards being a Green City in 2015. As part of this work we will think about what we as a gallery and a staff team can do to develop about our work for the cultural sector of Glasgow in a more sustainable way and reduce our carbon footprint. One of these conversations we hope will develop once we have appointed the next Associate Artist – the post is currently being advertised and the closing date is Friday 24 January 2014.

We will also be working with Ellie Harrison and others to develop events, workshops and talks related to climate change, environmental issues and a more sustainable city. We will post more details about this programme as and when they are confirmed.
