Abstract

Historically, forensic odontologists have assessed the bite marks on a victim’s skin or foodstuffs and tried to compare them to the dentition that could have made the marks. Cases involving bite mark injuries have been widely reported throughout the centuries, however, bite mark analysis is now considered to be scientifically unreliable.
