Abstract

A key aspect of a rich creative partnership is that each participant can express themselves meaningfully and feels a sense of shared ownership over the outcome. This sense that an artefact has been created intentionally and reflects something important about who the creator is and what they wish to communicate is referred to here as the authentic voice. In today's culture of prompt-driven creation and semi-passive consumption of AI outputs this is a frequently overlooked dimension of human–AI co-creation.

This work is the result of a collaboration between two academics in the Department of Computing at University of Dundee – one with expertise in CC, and the other with a background in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). In our bridging paper, we draw on insights from AAC to suggest how this essential aspect of meaningful co-creative relationships might be addressed within a CC context.
