Abstract

Flow is a design-led digital game developed as part of the Design HOPES project at the University of Dundee, aimed at helping NHS Scotland staff visualise patient movement and decision-making in urgent and semi-urgent care. The tool enables healthcare professionals to explore different operational scenarios, assess the impact of choices on patient flow, and identify opportunities to reduce the carbon footprint of healthcare services. Co-designed with NHS staff, Flow integrates design thinking, game design, and data visualisation to make systemic sustainability challenges in healthcare visible and actionable.
