N1 - This research exhibition is associated with output 1. An important component of the research project was to provide examples and evidence of new techniques, methods and forms of practice within the areas of digital and performance craft. A call for proposals was made in July 2006 and a website was created as the main port of disseminating information and as a means of providing a transparent reviewing procedure. An International Peer Panel consisting of curators, educators, historians, practitioners and, theoreticians was created to ensure objectivity and rigour in the selection of work(Sandra Alfoldy, Katie Bunnell, Gordon Burnett, Carole Gray, Mirga Kalvianen, Marie O'Mahony, Ruudt Peters, Chris Rust). A two-phase blind reviewing procedure was used to referee each submission. 52 exhibit proposals were submitted. The final exhibition showcased 27 research projects from nine countries; a combination of individual, joint and group collaboration work with approximately 250 pieces of work. The exhibition was evaluated by a group of British academics, including Martina Margetts, Royal College of Art, Dr Kristina Neidderrer, University of Hertfordshire, and Dr Geoff Matthews, Lincoln University. The exhibition was accompanied by a publication 'Future Voices Celebrating Diversity' (148 pp), edited by Follett, Moir and Valentine. (ISBN 1 899837 54 X). Sponsors included: The Binks Trust (£1,000), and Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland (£2,500), Scottish Arts Council (£10,000),Design History Society (£200).
