title = "Georgina Follett Jewellery",
author = "Georgina Follett",
note = "This solo exhibition reflects the work of Follett as a visual crafts practitioner. Her research concerns practice, both understanding the thinking process behind the development of an individuals working practices and making explicit the context and content of craft. Follett has a particular visual aesthetic; she is obsessed by flora, not from a botanic perspective but by the cycles of life and the patterns of nature. Follett seek to encapsulate their fragility, transient qualities, vibrant colour and the random occurrence of growth within her pieces. Follett{\textquoteright}s use the technique of enamelling to explore these qualities, both cloisonn{\'e} and plique a jour, they provide a vibrant palette, which enables her to capture the essential visual qualities of a natural aesthetic. Her practice is seeking to expose to others the qualities of constructing a body of knowledge through over a lifetime, to have a slow deep personal journey. Georgina Follett Jewellery was a solo exhibition and public lecture that were sponsored by North West Arts Board, Scottish Arts Council, Cumbria County Council, Carlisle City Council Arts Unit with accompanying publication pp32 (ISBN 1 899837 38). It is all about the depth slow learning offers, its place within the visual hierarchies and the legacy crafts encapsulates by allowing an individual to slowly hone their own visual literacy to provide a unique and personal perspective derived from understanding one{\textquoteright}s own process of thought.
