Abstract
This article recounts the experience of a support group in the early days of the AIDS pandemic. After identifying the personal, interpersonal, and environmental issues that were part of the work of this early support group, the article reflects on how far we have come in addressing people's needs around HIV/AIDS. The importance of group work in working at personal and political levels is highlighted
