Abstract
Paignton Zoo Environmental Park's Verti-Crop facility uses a multi-level conveyor-belt system in a greenhouse to produce green leaf crops to help feed the zoo's animals. Kevin Frediani, the zoo's Curator of Plants and Gardens, thinks the system, which was presented with the Norah Stucken Award 2011 , has wider applications for urban food production.
